TCE's alumni association was founded in 1962. The association is active even today. It maintains the alumni database and regularly conducts alumni meetings, events and programmes.

Thiagarajar College of Engineering has got various clubs and activities grouped under the 'Cultural Association' that organizes various competitions, training, demos and exhibitions. It also sponsors students at inter-college cultural events.

The college is also a member of the Rotract Club, the youth wing of the international movement, Rotary Club.

TCE also encourages its students to be part of the N.S.S. and the N.C.C. camps for their overall development.

TCE's 'Placement Cell' recommends names of fresh graduates for placement when requested by Government department/ private organizations/ companies. It also arranges campus interviews for the direct recruitment of final year students.

The library in the institute contains more than 67,000 books along with many journals, to support the student's research programmes and study courses.
